GREAT RIVER EAGLE DAYS

To salute the arrival of our national bird, the River Eagle Council will host the Intertribal Powwow, 13th Annual Great River Eagle Days. The event offers activities throughout the weekend centered around the majestic Bald Eagle and is open to the public.

Great River Eagle Days will be held on Saturday and Sunday, January 24-25, 2026, from 10am-5pm both days. The event will be held at the Oakley Lindsay Civic Center located at 3rd & York in downtown Quincy. Admission to the event is $8 for ages 11 and older, $5 for adults over 60, and children 10 and under are free.

The popular weekend event honors Native American traditions with a variety of sacred ceremonies and entertainment features. A highlight of this year’s festivities will include special performances by entertainers John Skenadore and Randy Falcon. Clifton Hall, Hoop Dancer, will delight audiences both Saturday and Sunday from 2:30pm-3:30pm, along with Cory Chavez head male dancer and Chante Falcon,head female dancer. The traditional Blessing of the Eagle Ceremony is to be held Sunday at 11am, followed by the Grand Entry honoring Veterans at 12pm.

Saturday and Sunday lineups include displays from Tree House Wildlife Center Raptors to allow the public to safely view live birds of prey with their handlers. Native American vendors and food booths will also be onsite both days, offering tipi displays, authentic "Fry Bread" and Indian tacos. Demonstrators and Native American educators will feature artifact displays, flute playing, and children’s crafts. The Thunder Valley Drums, as well as Native dancers will perform throughout the weekend.

Participants are encouraged to take advantage of eagle-watching on Saturday and Sunday at Quincy’s Lock & Dam 21 from 9am-2pm. U.S. Army Corp of Engineers rangers will be available with complimentary scopes at the site. Lock & Dam 21 is at 909 W. Lock & Dam Road, off Gardner Expressway. The best viewing spot is from the adjoining boat ramp.
