The Capital Big Band under the direction of Ralph Woehrmann, will appear in concert on the Pike County Courthouse lawn on Saturday, July 3 at 2 p.m. It is a free concert, and the courthouse will be open at that time.
In honor of Independence Day, the concert will feature special tributes to WWII, Korean and Vietnam War veterans. The band will also perform Civil War era marches in honor of Pike County’s Civil War veterans.

The Capital Big Band was formed in 2005 by Darrell Cannedy, a retired band director from Raymond, Ill. and Ralph Woehrmann, a retired Lutheran pastor from Springfield.

This patriotic concert – in commemoration of Pike County’s Bicentennial – is sponsored by The Abe Lincoln Project/Looking for Lincoln in Pike County.
