The Upper Mississippi, Illinois & Missouri River Association (UMIMRA) Annual Meeting will be held June 17-18 at The Atrium on Third Hotel in Quincy, IL (a short distance from the banks of the Mississippi). This meeting will be held IN-PERSON. We are anticipating a good crowd of people to attend from across the Midwest to hear presentations focused on flood control, navigation and common-sense environmental stewardship in the 21st century.
UMIMRA has a long history of working on behalf of its members by speaking as one voice for those living, working, and investing in the Upper Mississippi River Valley. Over the years there have been significant accomplishments, but much remains to be done. There are many groups working to do away with our existing levee system. Your continued support of UMIMRA is now more important than ever.
The Annual Meeting gives attendees an opportunity to network and learn from others to find solutions that will reduce flood damages, protect property, and support our communities.
We have an exceptional line-up of speakers this year including the Friday, June 18 keynote luncheon speaker RD James, Former Assistant USACE Secretary Civil Works. There will be a reception on Thursday, June 17 featuring comments from Major General Diana Holland, Mississippi River Commission. Also on Thursday, June 17 the first-ever Corn Belt Ports meeting will be held in conjunction with the UMIMRA Annual Meeting.
Educational sessions on current topics and issues include:
- Eric Snodgrass, Meteorologist with Nutrien Ag Solutions – “Flooding and Drought on the Mississippi Watershed”
- Julie Ufner, President & CEO of National Waterways Conference – “Congressional and Regulatory Forecast: Spring/Summer 2021”
