Foundations have agreed to match donations for the Beth Calabotta Swim Challenge at Sheridan Swim Club on September 2, 2017!
The 3rd Annual Beth Calabotta Swim Challenge will be held at Sheridan Swim Club on September 2nd starting at 7:00 a.m. Participants in the swim challenge have the opportunity to complete a 1 mile, 5k, or 10k swim. The suggested donation to participate is $25 with 100% going to metastatic cancer research.
The Cancer Couch Foundation (www.thecancercouch.com) has agreed to match dollar for dollar all proceeds raised up to $1000 and that amount will then be doubled again. The Dana Farber and Memorial Sloan Kettering Foundation funds will also match donations from the swim challenge. Additionally, Beth Calabotta’s parents (Robert and Mary Jo Godwin) will be matching funds raised up to $1000. Therefore, if we raise $2000.00, we will see $8000.00 going to the Cancer Couch Foundation metastatic cancer research.
Beth Calabotta spoke to congressional leaders regarding the importance of funding for metastatic cancer research, she motivated and inspired many as she continued to train and compete at swimming events, and she continued to lead the charge for increased funding for metastatic cancer research. Beth was resilient, courageous and determined to live every day by making a difference and inspiring others. Beth passed away in March, 2017 after a long and courageous battle.
“I’m delighted that we will be raising money to fund metastatic breast cancer research. Each year, 40,000 men and women die from this terminal disease. Funding research is a way to make a different tomorrow,” said Beth Calabotta, 2016.
