Carthage Kiwanis hosts Christmas Cookie Crawl
CARTHAGE, IL – The Carthage Kiwanis Club will host its inaugural Christmas Cookie Crawl on Saturday, Nov. 30 from 10 AM to 2 PM. The proceeds for this Kiwanis fundraiser will go toward Kid’s Shopping Day, the annual back-to-school event that provides new shoes, new clothing, backpacks, school supplies and free haircuts to children in the Carthage Elementary School District.
The Christmas Cookie Crawl, held on Small Business Saturday, will enable patrons to collect two dozen homemade cookies from many well-known, local bakers. Patrons will check-in at Carthage Public Library, receive a bakery box lined with Christmas tissue, and a map. Patrons will collect their cookies at these locations: Belle’s Loft, Ben Franklin, Carthage Public Library, Craft Studio & Christmas Shop, Farmhouse Meat Company, Flippin’ Furniture, Kimberly Drive, Memorial Hospital Gift Shop, New 2U, Restock Room, Rural Bliss and The Flower Shop. A Kiwanis “host” will be at each business to meet and greet the “crawlers” and distribute the cookies. The Kiwanis Club has been working closely with the Hancock County Health Department Environmental Food Program to ensure that proper steps are taken to reduce any chance of food-borne illness in the stages of preparation and distribution of the cookies.
Retailers will also be taking advantage of Small Business Saturday and offering special deals for holiday shoppers. Tickets for the Carthage Kiwanis Christmas Cookie Crawl are $20.00 and must be purchased in advance. Tickets are available from any Kiwanis member or at these main banks in Carthage: First Bankers Trust Company, Fortress Bank, or Marine Bank & Trust. The event is limited to 100 tickets.
