“Save the Date” The 11th Annual Frontier Settlement Day Saturday, September 14th!
Thanks to a grant from Breakfast Kiwanis this is a “free” “family friendly” event.  Thanks to a grant from Quincy Noon Kiwanis, President Abe Lincoln will be in attendance.  Many activities are planned for both kids and adults.  Period displayers show how they made things in the 1800s. Village structures will be open, so folks can see the insides of these original 1800’s structures, plus the historic displays in them.  The village Herb Garden will have a display and handout.  Other planned activities include: Nauvoo on the Road with their 1800s displays and activities; Quincy Park District conducts Pioneer games for the kids and adults; Ladies of the War of 1812 conduct a 1800s Tea Party; a Civil War Nurse shows how they cared for the wounded; a Buck Skinner shows pelts he would have sold; the Bear Creek Indians display items; President Abe Lincoln will interact with visitors and be available for “selfies”; and there will be a display and activities showing how School was taught in the 1800s. Betty Gebhardt, Chair of the Event, could use help finding displayers, plus help on the day of the event.  If you can help, or know of a displayer contact, her via the email:
