The Quincy Sister City Commission hosts the annual Germanfest in Quincy’s South Park on Friday, June 1st  and Saturday, June 2nd from 3-11 pm both days.  The Heidelberg Band will perform from 4-8pm June 1.  The Waterloo German Band will perform 4-8pm June 2 and Raised on Radio will perform from 8-11pm both days.

Saturday afternoon will include a “Kinderplatz”, activities for children from 3-7pm.  Both days will feature traditional German food accompanied by local favorites and craft beers including ones brewed especially for the event. A variety of other beers including German beer will be available along with wine and non-alcoholic beverages along with a Herford Beer Garden, where a number of beers and a few wines will be available for tasting. A new shuttle service will be available from QND school to South Park.

Proceeds from Germanfest help provide materials and activities for QND and QHS German classes as well as some support for the QU team’s German soccer trip experience. Activities for German adult and student exchanges are also funded by the event.

New this year will be a Beer /Wine Tasting Garden. Blocks of 10 tasting coupons will be sold for entrance to the garden.
