The Quincy Sister City Commission hosts the annual Germanfest in Quincy’s South Park on Friday, June 3rd from 5pm-11pm and Saturday, June 4th from 3-11 pm. Live German entertainment will be going on all weekend.
Bands: Waterloo German Band – Playing Friday, June 3rd from 5:00 – 11:00 pm
Waterloo German Band – Playing Saturday, June 4th from 3:00 – 7:00 pm
Heidelberg German Band – Playing Saturday, June 4th from 7:00 – 11:00 pm
Kinderplatz (Children’s Area) – is on Saturday, June 4th from 3:00 – 7:00 pm ONLY – Children’s area with small children’s games and activities & small prizes given. Including (Refreshment Services Pepsi) providing 2 liter Pepsi products for the ring toss game, decorating a cookie station (provided by County Market), games from the Quincy Public Library, Quincy Art Center and new this year are some special activities/games from the Quincy Children’s Museum. The children will love these games from the Children’s Museum in Kinderplatz.
New: Hy-Vee Catering & Chuck’s Grilling from the Harrison Hy-Vee will be catering & grilling for our event this year.
New: Event Parking will be available at the Harrison Hy-Vee this year. Look for the event parking signs. Catch a ride over to the park.
New: We are increasing our beer selections this year, more domestic & specialty beers. Also, we will be adding more German beers for everyone to enjoy. Quincy Brewing Company will be joining us this year with a special “German” brew for our event.
New: Mercantile Trust & Savings Bank will be providing ATM services for our event this year. If attendees are in need of cash, they can visit the new Mercantile ATM trailer and pick up the cash they might need without leaving the park.
Both days will feature traditional German food accompanied by local favorites and craft beers including ones brewed especially for the event. A variety of other beers including German beer will be available along with wine and non-alcoholic beverages. Event parking will be available at Hy-Vee on Harrison.
Proceeds from Germanfest help provide materials and activities for QND and QHS German classes as well as some support for the QU team’s German soccer trip experience. Activities for German adult and student exchanges are also funded by the event.
