An educational program on the ice cutting process, tools of the trade and the hazards of harvesting will be held on Sunday, February 21, at 2 pm in the Visitor’s Center, adjacent to the John Wood Mansion, 425 South 12th Street. Bob Cook, retired District Court Judge, will present the program that will include artifacts and images of Quincy ice dealers harvesting their crops on Quincy Bay.
The program, offered by the Historical Society, will highlight activities that made up the ice harvesting industry. Your ancestors may have farmed, cut and stored ice and brought it to market.
The program is free and open to the public.
