Everyone is invited to the LINCOLN IN THE DISTRICT Festival on Saturday, June 16, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Washington Park. Celebrate Quincy’s Lincoln legacy. Begin with a Johnny Cake Breakfast at 8. See rails being split and meet President Lincoln! Fifteen period crafts including a working blacksmith, rope making, broom making, and candle making as well as horse-drawn carriage rides, vintage baseball, and Civil War medicine are being featured. All activities reflect the life and times of Abraham Lincoln in the Quincy area. Witness living history with Lincoln and Senator Stephen Douglas “squaring off” again, Lincoln friendships retold, and six mini-theater scenes. An assortment of hands-on children’s activities, period music, food, and visits to Lincoln-related sites will provide an exciting day in The DISTRICT.
Lincoln in the District is an Abraham Lincoln National Heritage Area event. It is being organized by Quincy’s Lincoln Legacy, our local Looking for Lincoln Heritage Coalition working group.
