Second Place winners of the prestigious 2015 American Prize in Community Band Performance, the Quincy Concert Band will present a family friendly, Halloween-themed event at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 30, 2016 in the Quincy Junior High School’s Morrison Theater.
“In addition to hearing a concert by one of the best community bands in the country, this event will also feature a costume contest with prizes, and Halloween treats available for purchase during intermission,” said QCB Conductor Dr. Trent Hollinger. “The music selections for this concert are inspired by Halloween costumes. Whether you come dressed as a princess, pirate or a puffy bunny, this concert’s for you.”
From toddlers to adults, show off your best and most creative costume, which will be judged during intermission. There will be prizes in each age bracket.
From classical masterpieces to film scores to contemporary gems, this concert is filled with fun, entertaining music.
Adventurers will enjoy an arrangement of themes from “Pirate of the Caribbean” and John William’s “Cowboys Overture,” music from John Wayne’s famous 1972 western. For princesses of all ages, Tchaikovsky’s famous “Sleeping Beauty Waltz” has been heard from concert halls to Disney films. “Godzillia Eat’s Las Vegas” is a comical work with about 30 different musical styles that simulates a campy, over-the-top Godzilla movie (And a tribute to Elvis).
This eclectic assortment, which includes others works, is brought to you by a dedicated group of local musicians. Come hear your friends and neighbors play.
Do not miss a great, family-friendly concert by one of the best bands in Illinois and the country.
There is no required admission charge for the concert, but donations are encouraged as you are able.
