It’s amazing what some men will do to play from the red tees at Quincy’s Westview Golf Course! (

As you can see……..sports are very “open” in the Quincy area! And we pride ourselves on a liberal array of options to suit all manner of enthusiasts.

Besides golfing in a pink skirt (or NOT!), visitors may enjoy playing, or spectating a number of sports at various events and venues.

We have an avid running, biking, golfing, and boating & fishing community, as well as a growing number of events to correlate to those interests. Mud Mania, the Quincy 5-Miler, Bear Creek Grunt and Fishing for Freedom, are just several that cater to these arms of sports.

For basketball lovers, the Gus Macker Tournament fills the streets of downtown Quincy each May, as teams from all over, and of all ages, compete in 3-on-3 games for two days, to benefit local charity.

Our fair city is also home to the Quincy Gems, a semi-professional baseball team, part of the Central Illinois Collegiate League. The Gems play at the historic Q-Stadium.

Outdoor complexes suited for soccer, football and track include Flinn Stadium, Boots Bush Park and Paul Dennis Soccer Complex. Quincy is home to several competitive youth soccer clubs. Quincy United Soccer Club sponsors an annual regional indoor tournament at K & L Arena.

K & L houses a large and small soccer field, as well as state of the art volleyball & basketball courts. It’s also home to the Riverfront Athletic Association, dedicated to providing athletes across the Tri-states access and opportunity to pursue Olympic dreams. The facilities are ideal for state and national events.

Additional indoor venues include the Quincy University Health & Fitness Center, the John Wood Community College Student Center (with special event seating for 1,800), the Kroc Center, the YMCA, Gem City Gymnastics & Tumbling,  and Sheridan Swim Club. Sheridan hosts the Titan Firecracker Classic annually each July, attracting competitive swimmers nationwide.
