Mini Abe visited Quincy during the steamy days of summer and discovered the cool bar at Boodalu Steakhouse overlooking the Mississippi, after devouring the Blue Bell Filet on a Bed of Sweet Challet Marmalade.

The Quincy area overflows with libationary options…exceedingly! In fact, it used to be said that there was a bar and a church on every corner. An exaggeration most certainly, but yet today, we don’t lack in the quantity or diversity of liquid refreshment venues.

Long-established, “Cheers” style, cozy corner bars Irish bars with full menus, wine bars & farm to table spots with brunch specials & fresh Bloody Marys… shotgun style, narrow little Sunday night Blues bars… live music, entertainment, karoake & dancing platforms… well, you get the picture.

Bob Hope said : “I like to play in the low 70’s. If it gets any hotter than that, I like to stay in the bar!”

We agree, Bob. With the exception of Quincy’s downtown Blues in the District, every summer on the 2nd & 4th Friday of the month in Historic Washington Park. Nothing better than grabbing a few “cold ones” or a chilled bottle of wine from surrounding pubs, heading to the park, and unwinding through the night with the phenomenal sounds of regional blues talent.  For the full Blues in the District schedule check
